Poland, Georgia, and Ukraine Qualified for Euro 2024 Championship

Poland, Georgia, and Ukraine are the remaining 3 teams qualified for the Euro 2024 to be held in Germany this year. These 3 teams will join the 21 already qualified national teams in Europe’s biggest football competition this summer.

Poland won against Wales in penalty shootouts after a goalless 120 minutes in the playoff finals. Ukraine came from one goal behind to clinch a 2-1 victory over Iceland.

Another game decided on penalties was Georgia vs Greece after both teams failed to score in 120 minutes. Georgia claimed a 4-2 win on penalties and booked a place in the finals of the tournament.

Georgia’s first appearance in European Championship

This is the first appearance of Georgia in the UEFA European Championship as the nation did not qualify in the previous editions since the formation of the nation in 1992. From 1996 to 2020, Georgia failed to qualify for the finals but this time, they’ll be playing the Euros for the first time in Germany.

Georgia shocked Greece who won the Championship of Euro 2004 but their last appearance in a major football competition was in the 2014 World Cup. Since then, Greece failed to make it to the Euros or World Cups.

Poland’s Euro 2024 Group D Rivals

Poland will be playing against the Netherlands, France, and Austria in the group-stage games. Their first fixture is against the Netherlands on 16 June in Hamburg. Their next game will be against Austria on 21 June and then against France on 25 June 2024.

Ukraine’s Euro 2024 Group E Rivals

The Ukrainians will begin their European Championship campaign against Romania on the 17th of June at the Allianz Arena before facing Slovakia on 21 June and Belgium on 26 June 2024. The blue and yellows played the last 3 editions of the Euros. Last time (Euro 2020), they reached the quarter-final round and it was their best run in the competition.
