Groups Confirmed for UEFA Nations League 2024-25 Season

All groups for the UEFA Nations League 2024-25 have been confirmed. After a draw on the 8th of February 2024, the teams of all Leagues are divided into their respective groups. The 4th season of the competition will kick off on 5th September 2024 through the League Phase. Because of England’s performance in the previous season, they were relegated to League B as they finished at the bottom of the group. Given below are the groups for each League of this edition.

Defending Champions Spain are with Denmark, Switzerland, and Serbia in Group A4. Meanwhile, France are in A2 with Italy, Belgium, and Israel. Winners of the first edition, Portugal will be facing Vice-Champions Croatia. After promotion from League B in the last edition, Scotland are in Group A1.

Teams promoted to upper league

Promoted to League A: After finishing the group at the top in League B last season, Scotland made it to the top league. Israel played exceptionally well last season as they were undefeated in Group B2, they also got promoted to League A. The other 2 promoted teams are Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

Promoted to League B: Georgia were the underdogs of the last edition in League C. They went undefeated after winning 5 out of 6 games and draw once. With a total of 16 points, Georgia promoted to League B. The other three promoted teams are Kazakhstan, Greece, and Turkey.

Promoted to League C: Latvia and Estonia will be playing in League C after their promotion from D last season.

Teams relegated to lower league

Relegated to League B: It was the worst performance by England in the last edition of the UEFA Nations League. Without any win in the group game, England were relegated to League B. The other 3 teams relegated are the Czech Republic, Wales, and Austria.

Relegated to League C: Sweden managed to win just one game in their group and that’s why they got relegated to League C. Romania and Armenia are also the 2 relegated teams.

Relegated to League D: Gibraltar and Lithuania finished at the bottom of the table but their relegation will be decided by the relegation play-outs.

The league phase will be played from 5 September to 19 November 2024. Nations League Finals will be played from 4 to 8 June 2025.

Nations League will also give chance to teams to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The top 12 teams from each group of the UEFA World Cup qualification will qualify directly for the World Cup. Thereafter, 12 group runners-up and 4 group winners of the Nations League 2024-25 will play the second round in the World Cup qualification.
