Are you wondering about the format of Copa America 2024? Want to know how will teams qualify for the knock-out rounds? All your questions will be answered here. The United States of America will host the 44th edition of the biggest South American competition from 20 July to 14 July 2024. 16 teams have qualified for the competition including the hosts USA.
Explanation of Copa America 2024 Format
Group Stage Format: In the first round which is the group stage round, all qualified teams have been divided into 4 groups (Group A to Group F). Each group consists of 4 teams. You may need to download schedule of Copa America.
In this way, every team will play 3 games against their group rivals. Three points will be given to the winning team and one point to each team for a draw.
The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the knock-out round which is the Quarter-Final round. If 2 teams have the same points, then the team will a better goal difference will qualify.
If the goal difference is also the same, then the number of goals scored in all group matches will be considered. If goals are also the same, then points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question will be considered.

Quarter-Finals: Group Winners will play against Group Runners-up in the last 8 round. The Quarter-Finals will be a single leg. If a match ends at a draw, penalties will decide the Semi-finalists.
Semi-Finals: Quarter-Final winners will play the last 4 round in the same way as that of the previous round.
Third Place Play-Off: An extra game will be played between the 2 Semi-Final losers to decide the third-best team in the competition. It will be the second last game of the competition.
Copa America Final: Semi-Final winners will play the final match at the Hard Rock Stadium on the 14th of July 2024.
How many matches will be played in 2024 Copa America?
There will be 32 matches throughout the competition including the final and third-place play-off. The winner of this Championship will play a final match against the winner of Euro 2024 in the CONMBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions 2025.
